Dr. Hong Huasheng, Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island, currently serves as Professor and Chief Scientist of the Coastal and Ocean Management Institute, Xiamen University, and Honorary Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science (Xiamen University). Her main research interests cover the biogeochemical processes of carbon, nutrients, and organic pollutants in the marine environment and their ecological and toxicological effects, as well as scientific and technological support for the sustainable development of oceans and coastal zones. She once won the Third Prize of the State Award for Science and Technology Progress of China, the Third Prize of the Award for Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education of China, and the title of “2010 Top Ten Figures in the Ocean Field in China”.
