Mr. Xu Chang’an, with a Master’s Degree in marine biology from Ocean University of China, has gone to Okinawa International Centre in Japan, Pusan Fishery University in South Korea, and the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in Queensland, Australia for study and training. He is currently a professor-level senior engineer and doctoral supervisor at the Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources of China. His fields of expertise are the development and utilization of marine biological resources, biomedicine, and bioeconomy. He has published more than 60 papers in well-known domestic and foreign journals, such as Trends in Plant Science, co-edited 2 monographs, applied for 21 Chinese national invention patents, authorized 11 and transformed 2. He drafted (promulgated) one Chinese national standard. He has presided over and participated in more than 70 scientific research projects.
