Citizens from 54 countries have been exempted from visa requirements during transit to China for 72 or 144 hours. Statistics released by China's National Immigration Administration show that the number of foreigners coming to China reached about 12 million from January 1 to May 31 this year. Notably, some 7 million foreigners (79,000 foreigners per day) enjoyed visa-free entry into China, soaring 1.9 fold year-on-year, according to media reports.
