Shahbaz expressed heartfelt gratitude to China's strong support for the development of CPEC project. He said that the electricity generated by the power station of the project will be transmitted to various parts of Pakistan, injecting momentum into Pakistan's economic development and bringing prosperity. 

In his speech, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal spoke highly of the high-level practical cooperation between China and Pakistan, stressing that the building of CPEC is of great significance in boosting Pakistan's industrialization. 

Meng Donghai, the person who are in charge of the Thar Block-1 Integrated Coal and Power Project, said that the smooth operation of the project will help reduce Pakistan's electricity bills, ensure more stable electricity supply, and alleviate the pressure on Pakistan's energy imports. 

Thar Block-1 Integrated Coal and Power Project is a key energy cooperation project under the framework of CPEC, independently developed, built, and operated by Shanghai Electric Group. The project broke ground in 2019, including an open-pit coal mine with an annual output of 7.8 million tons of lignite and a coal-fired power station with two 660-megawatt supercritical thermal power generating units.
