The Second General Assembly of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and Forum on Smart Ocean Successfully Concluded in Fuzhou

On May 18, the 2-day event of Second General Assembly of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and Forum on Smart Ocean was successfully concluded. The event was participated by over 120 delegates of 70 groups, who, with the Maritime Silkroad as the medium, further unlocked potential for maritime cooperation among cities along the 21st-Century Maritime Silkroad and in the Asia Pacific, and explored the new heights of "Smart Ocean" development.

The General Assembly voted on and adopted the revised Charter of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”), and elected the new President, Co-Presidents and Secretary General. Mr. Wu Xiande, Mayor of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, was elected President of the Committee. Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan, Governor of Jakarta Capital City Government, Indonesia, Mr. Ding Hui, Mayor of Haikou Municipal People's Government, China, Mr. Hassan Ali Joho, Governor of County Government of Mombasa, Kenya, and Mr. Stuart Crosby, President of Local Government New Zealand, were elected Co-Presidents of the Committee. Mr. Huang Jianxiong, Deputy Mayor of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, was elected Secretary-General of the Committee.

The General Assembly also established the Council of the Committee, and announced Council Members, new Committee Members, and new advisers. In addition, a thematic activity was held to review the Committee’s 5-year development.



Over the five years, 65 cities and organizations of 27 countries on 5 continents have joined the Committee, which has also recruited 27 advisers, whose expertise covers various fields of smart ocean, navigation economy, marine legislation and policy, etc. With the active participation and strong support of members, the Committee has undergone sound development, effectively promoting exchanges and cooperation among member cities and organizations, strongly driving regional economic development, and continuously improving its own visibility and influence.



The Second General Assembly of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and Forum on Smart Ocean was co-hosted by 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, and supported by United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), Silk Road Think Tank Association, and Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Provincial People’s Government.
