Vaccines Donated by China Arrived in Guyana

March 3, 2021 (China News Agency) A batch of COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Chinese government to the Guyanan government arrived at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown, Guyana.

Guyanas Minister of Health Antony and Charge daffaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Guyana Chen Xilai, received the vaccine at the airport and signed the handover certificate on behalf of the two governments respectively.

At the handover ceremony, Minister Antony, on behalf of Guyanas President Ali, the government and people of Guyana, expressed gratitude to China for its generous donation. Anthony expressed that China has been supporting and assisting Guyana since the outbreak of COVID-19, and the donation of vaccines is another example of the cooperation in fighting the epidemic between the two countries. The vaccine donated by China is one of the best vaccines in the world and extremely effective.

Its understood that the vaccines donated by China were produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (Sinopharm). It is also the first time that Guyana has received a direct donation of vaccines from a foreign government. The vaccines will be immediately used for Guyanas front-line medical staff to help Guyana fight the epidemic.
