Located nearly 240 kilometers south of Colombo, Hambantota is the capital city of the district by the same name, in the Southern Province. It’s a coastal city with long history which has seen rapid development in recent years and promoted as a second commercial hub of the country after Colombo. 

Hambantota City is an important transportation hub connecting Asia, Africa and Europe supported by expressway, Mattala International Airport and Hambantota International Port, which is a flagship project of construction of Belt and Road Initiative.
