Institute of Oceanography of Minjiang University was established in 2017, guided by CPC Central Committee's strategies for ecological conservation and strengthening China’s maritime development. It focuses on the construction of Marine Biology and Medicine Research Center, Marine Resources and Environment Research Center, Marine Advanced Materials and Intelligent Sensors Research Center, and Intelligent Control Research Center of Ship and Sea Equipment. Since 2017, the Institute has won a second prize of Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, a first prize of China Institution of Navigation, and WuXi apptec Life Science and Chemistry Awards. It has also undertaken 262 scientific research projects, of which 36 are at the national-level and 31 are enterprise cooperation ones, with a total funding of more than 41.52 million, published 352 research papers, with 150 of them published in the name of the first author and 109 published in the name of the corresponding author. It has authorized 58 patents, including 16 invention patents.
