On May 22, the 28th Cross-Strait Fair For Economy and Trade opened in Fuzhou. Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Provincial People’s Government, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and declared the fair open. Governor Zhao Long noted that Fujian and Taiwan are geographically close and share deep kinship, making Fujian the the province with the most frequent and active cross-strait exchanges. An increasing number of Taiwan compatriots and enterprises have become practitioners, promoters, and beneficiaries of cross-strait integrated development.
National reunification is an irresistible historical trend and the common aspiration the people, and there is great potential for Fujian-Taiwan integration. As China strives toward the “15th Five-Year Plan,” Fujian will thoroughly implement the Party’s overall policy framework for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era, resolutely enforce the ten policy measures to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and accelerate the construction of a demonstration zone for cross-strait integrated development, making new contributions to the cause of national reunification. Fujian will focus on building a common market, further optimizing market access for Taiwan’s businesses, attracting more of them to grow and thrive across the strait, and broadening the channels of connectivity. It will focus on creating a shared home, continuously improving policies and systems that enhance the well-being of Taiwan compatriots and provide them with equal treatment, helping them settle in Fujian and live in peace and prosperity—better implementing policies of benefit. It will also focus on promoting shared culture, hosting major events such as the Cross-Strait Forum, bringing people from both sides closer in heart and mind, and strengthening the ties of kinship.
This year’s Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade , themed “Promoting Economic Integration and Building Our First Home Together,” showcases the achievements of the demonstration zone for cross-strait integrated development, and features industrial matchmaking, investment promotion, and other activities. At the opening ceremony, the third batch of pilot policies for the “Shared Living Circle” in the Fuzhou-Matsu region was released. Representatives of guests from both sides of the strait shared vivid stories of exchanges and interactions. Also attending were representatives of relevant government delegations from various provinces and cities, officials from relevant provincial departments, and representatives of cross-strait business groups and Taiwan compatriots and enterprises.
