The second Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development (OTD) kicked off in Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center. 

With the permanent theme “Pooling the Wisdom of Overseas Chinese Talent to Fulfill the Chinese Dream”, the theme for 2024 is  "Pursuing a Future of Innovation-Driven Development with Overseas Chinese Wisdom". Shaanxi province, the city of Dalian, and Peking University will participate as the guest province, city, and university of honor, respectively, along with 33 provincial and municipal federations of returned overseas Chinese. 

Structured around a comprehensive "1+1+4" activity framework, the event encompasses a series of opening ceremony activities, a series of scientific and technological achievements docking activities, and four thematic sections focusing on talent attraction, dialogue, exhibition, and cultivation, comprising a total of 19 events. 

The Conference brings together academicians, overseas high-level Chinese talents and professionals, representatives from overseas key science and technology societies,  professional associations, overseas alumni associations, and delegates from domestic science and technology parks, scientific research institutes, incubator firms and members of the organizing committee.  

Key activities include the launch of a collaborative mechanism among multiple provinces and the unveiling of various talent and industry policies. Additionally, the conference will feature technology matchmaking events aimed at addressing critical technical challenges in Fujian's key industries. By soliciting technological needs from enterprises and research institutions prior to the conference and unveiling them during the event, the focus will be on leveraging the accomplishments of overseas talent to amplify the conference’s impact. 

As a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, Fujian is home to about 20 million overseas Chinese from more than 190 countries and regions. The conference aims to pool the strength of overseas Chinese and promote exchanges and cooperation in key areas between talents at home and abroad. 

The conference also focuses on the frontiers of scientific and technological innovation and future industrial development trends. By exchanges, seminars, negotiations,  investigations, and docking, the conference aims to build a global platform for mutual learning in technology and human resources, expand exchanges and cooperation in technology, and contribute the wisdom of overseas Chinese to the development of a community with a shared future for mankind.
