Having nurtured a passion for environmental protection from a young age, Chee pursued her studies in environmental engineering, and more importantly found a home at CREC in 2016, being hired as an environmental officer. “ I wanted to take up a challenging job. I’ve heard that CREC also worked on the MRT 1, so I applied for the job here,” Chee said.
After entering the company, Chee went to the construction site almost every day to check the environmental situation, including black smoke discharge, sewage treatment and chemical preservation, and then wrote a report. If a problem is identified, she will discuss the solution with the construction team to ensure that the adverse impact of the construction is minimized.
Chee also had several law books on her desk. To do her job well, she needed to be familiar with the Malaysia’s laws on environment and then made an environmental management plan.
"I have learned a lot from my colleagues and leaders. We are very efficient. Working in CREC is like driving in the fast traffic lane. It moves very fast. The project has strict requirements in the environmental management. Within three months you need to handle everything within the project," she told Xinhua in an interview.
Chen Haipeng, general manager of CREC's regional headquarters in Malaysia, said in conducting projects, the company has payed much attention to boosting people-to-people bond. We also strictly followed the laws of the market and international current rules.
With the operation of MRT 2, Chee is sorting out the materials of the projects and summarizing her experience. “ This is the first time I have finished a whole project. I hope that I can lead the team in the future and let everyone know that CREC attaches great importance to environmental protection.” Chee said.
