New Zealand Chinese Language Week 2022 kicked off on the 25th and will last until 2 October. As a precursor to the Week, the China (Fujian) Book Exhibition showcases thematic publications, such as Up And Out Of Poverty, books on traditional Chinese folk cultures, like the "Fu" Culture and the Mid-Autumn Festival, and selected books on China’s Fujian Province, such as Fujian World Heritage, Fujian Ancient Houses, and Traditional Chinese “Fu” Culture, as well as intangible cultural products with Fujian distinctive features, such as Zhangpu paper-cut, Fuzhou oil-paper umbrellas, and Fuzhou bodiless lacquerware.
What is particularly interesting is that the book exhibition promoted the traditional Chinese culture, especially the "Fu" culture to New Zealand people. The organizers presented artworks created by Gao Shaoping, the paper-cut artist, to Tauranga Government, Western Bay of Plenty District Council and the New Zealand-China Friendship Association of New Zealand.

The interactive activities of Chinese culture, such as paper-cutting and tea ceremony, fully demonstrated the charm of the “Chinese style". The organizers also presented to the local people paper-cutting handicrafts and creative cultural souvenirs with elements, such as Wuyi Mountain - Fujian's World Heritage, Tulou houses, and "The First ‘Fu’ of the World".
During the event, the Straits Publishing and Distributing Group and the New Zealand Asian Book and Culture Center jointly donated books to the Tauranga’s City Library and set up the "Chinese Book Corner", which is the third "Chinese Book Corner" set up by the Straits Publishing and Distribution Group in New Zealand’s municipal libraries.
