Fuzhou, August 25 (Xinhua/Liu Feng) - Recently, the first Fujian Maritime Culture Forum, themed “’Maritime Fujian' Development Empowered by Maritime Cultures” was held in Xiapu County, Ningde City in the north of Fujian Province, China. The forum witnessed the launching of the Project to Survey and Evaluate the Maritime Cultural Resources in Fujian Province, and the plaque hanging ceremony for the (Xiapu) Pilot Site of Center for Survey and Evaluation of Maritime Cultural Resources in Fujian Province.
The project above mentioned will be supported by an academic team from the Research Center for Maritime Cultures in Fujian Province, Fuzhou University. It aims at having a clear picture of marine-related cultural resources in Fujian Province and building a platform for the sharing and economic application of marine-related cultural resources in order to promote the publicity of Fujian maritime culture, facilitate the application of marine-related cultural resources in marine industries, and realize the innovative development of marine economy.
The (Xiapu) Pilot Site of Center for Survey and Evaluation of Maritime Cultural Resources in Fujian Province will function as a pilot operation center located in Xiapu County, with its influence covering the six cities and one district along the coast of Fujian. At the same time, through the survey, collection, compilation and evaluation of maritime cultural resources in Fujian’s coastal areas, the book series of “Survey and Evaluation of Maritime Cultural Resources in Fujian Province will be completed”.
The forum was under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and hosted by the Fujian Provincial Bureau of Ocean and Fisheries and the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
