September 28th (FZNEWS, Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Lin Wenjing; Correspondents: Li Jianyu, Ye Jianlong) - The launch of “Maritime Fuzhou” as an international brand is inseparable from industry support. On the morning of September 27th, the construction of the third national pelagic fishery base in China,  Fuzhou (Lianjiang) National Pelagic Fishery Base 3# - 6# berths, officially began on Culu Island, marking that the construction of the base has entered a substantial stage. Lianjiang County will embark on a new journey for developing a gateway for Maritime Fuzhou and realizing its dream towards the ocean.

The 3# - 5# berths and the 6# berth, kicking off this time, are 10,000-ton level and 5,000-ton level berths respectively, with an estimated annual throughput of 600,000 tons and an annual design capacity of 700,000 tons. It is reported that the first phase of the home port project in the core area of the Fuzhou (Lianjiang) National Pelagic Fishery Base, as an important part of the base construction, has a total investment of about 880 million yuan, mainly including the construction of the 3# - 6# dock berths, highways for ports, trestle bridges, revetments, land formation, port facilities, port basin dredging, etc.

Before the construction of the home port, the requisition of land and sea areas shall be carried out first. The base construction headquarters and the officials in Guantou Town have worked with all their might to thoroughly implement the requirements of 120 Days for Fulfilling Critical Tasks” Special Action and cooperate with an assessment company to speed up the assessment work of sea area requisition. From September 13th to 26th, the current status assessment of more than 100 households of fishermen and more than 1,900 acres of sea areas was completed, with an average daily assessment of sea areas exceeding 100 acres. At present, the staff of the base are still working tirelessly to check and assess the production of fishing gears door to door.

At the same time, other projects in the base are also advancing at full speed, driving new results in the construction of the project: Qihang Avenue is undergoing soft foundation treatment, which is expected to be completed in March next year; supporting residential areas in the core area are under preparations for pile foundation construction; the water supply project on Culu Island has been incorporated into the Lianjiang County urban-rural water supply integration project for unified implementation; the pre-construction of the gas station project on Culu Island is well underway, and this plot has been listed for sale now.

According to the person in charge of the base, “The project is planned to be constructed in three phases. It is estimated that by 2028, the core area of the pelagic fishery base, the deep-sea aquatic product deep processing park, the international marine biological industrial park, the pelagic fishery equipment processing park, the fishing port supporting area and other key construction areas are expected to be fully completed. The base aims to be “domestic first-class and internationally advanced, and adopts a one core area, multiple key sections” approach for spatial layout, covering Mawei, Changle, Fuqing, Luoyuan, Lianjiang and other areas, with a total planned construction area of about 1628.33 hectares and a total investment of about 23 billion yuan. Efforts will be made to build a base capable for providing berthing services for pelagic fishery and relevant 600 ships by 2023, achieving offshore production of 400,000 tons and pelagic fishery imports of 1 million tons, making it serve Fujian Province, radiate the whole China and face the world.
