MANILA, June 30 (ChinaNews) - On June 30 local time, Association for Philippines–China Understanding held an online seminar on "The Role of the Communist Party of China in the Making of Modern China". Tan Qingsheng, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, attended, delivered the keynote speech, and answered questions from the participants.

Raul Lambino, Vice President for External Affairs of PDP-LABAN, Ramon Casiple, the Executive Director of the Institute for Political and Electoral Reform in the Philippines, and Cha Daojiong, professor of School of International Studies, Peking University also attended and addressed the event, together with over one hundred participants from the Philippines’ all walks of life, including politics, business, academics, media, and so on.

Tan Qingsheng stated that, in the past 100 years, the Communist Party of China (CPC) was born amidst internal and external troubles, grew up amidst hardships, and rose in the overcoming of difficulties. It has never ceased to seek happiness for the people, rejuvenation for the nation, and great unity for the world. Thus, it has created a unique development miracle in the world. Under the leadership of the CPC, China now enjoys a transformed national situation and an efficient socialist system with Chinese characteristics, and is taking international responsibility as a major country in the world.

The event was held by the Association for Philippines–China Understanding. Tan Qingsheng pointed out that at the new starting point of the 100th anniversary of its founding, the CPC will continue to lead the Chinese people to march courageously towards the second centenary goal, and make its contributions to the building of a world which enjoys continuous peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, and a good environment. China stands ready to expand friendly cooperation with all countries, including the Philippines, and continues inter-party exchanges with Filipino political parties, with a view to jointly building a community with a brighter and shared future for mankind.

Lambino expressed that the CPC has overcome formidable difficulties, united and led the Chinese people to continuously explore development paths suitable for their own national conditions, and enabled China to succeed in leaving poverty and achieving self-reliance. Today’s China has made major breakthroughs in economic growth, poverty alleviation, aerospace, and infrastructure construction, and other fields. On the basis of its own development, China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, and established international financial institutions such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, making significant contribution to the common development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Participants offered warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, looking forward to a more significant and influential role played by China on the international stage, under the leadership of the CPC.
