AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Team New Zealand took the PRADA America's Cup World Series (ACWS) Auckland trophy after winning the yacht race against the Italian team on Saturday.

With Emirates Team New Zealand and American Magic on even points, a win against Italian team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli gave the New Zealand team the point that they needed to take the trophy.

Saturday's games were the third day of the ACWS Auckland race. The races started more than one hour later than the planned time due to the breeze concerns.

The Italian team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli beat the British INEOS TEAM UK in race nine. The New Zealand team defeated New York Yacht Club American Magic by 1 minute 19 seconds in race ten.

Race 11 saw the New York Yacht Club American Magic winning the British INEOS TEAM UK with a big safety margin and Race 12 gave the Team New Zealand a 16-second win against the Italian side Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.

Team New Zealand collected the five winning points against the runners-up American Magic, who gained four points in the races.

Matches for the Prada Christmas Race will be held on Sunday.
