Fuzhou, August 31 (Fuzhou News Agency/Qian Jiayi)—To further deepen the exchange and cooperation among the members of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and to continually expand the international influence of the Committee and Fuzhou City, a workshop on "Marine Ecological Conservation and Disaster Risk Reduction" will be carried out from August 31 to September 2 via video conference.

Jointly held by 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis), the workshop will be attended by more than 50 representatives, experts and scholars in marine-related fields from Hangzhou, Ningde and other members of the Committee, Metropolis, UCLG ASPAC and Fuzhou’s friendship cities, covering foreign countries like Spain, Australia, Afghanistan, Kenya, Cambodia, Pakistan, Kiribati, Indonesia, Nepal and Myanmar. During the three-day workshop, scholars from Minjiang University and specialists from Fuzhou Municipal Ocean and Fishery Administration will deliver 5 lectures, concerning marine disaster prevention and reduction, marine industry development, current status of native oyster reefs and related ecological restoration approaches, marine aquaculture and sustainable development, and conservation and sustainable utilization of marine biodiversity, respectively. All the participants will also have a discussion on related topics.
