World's Largest Operational Clean Energy Ro-Ro Ship Makes Maiden Voyage to Europe from Xiamen

On January 23rd, under the supervision and guarantee of maritime law enforcement staff, more than 3,700 vehicles boarded the ro-ro ship "SAIC ANJI SINCERITY" one after another at the modern wharf in Dongdu Terminal, Xiamen. With 7,600 parking spaces and the largest active loading capacity in the world, the ship is the first LNG dual-fuel ocean-going ro-ro ship invested and built by Chinese shipowners. This voyage starts from Shanghai Port and passes through Lianyungang Port, carrying nearly 5,000 vehicles in total. It is expected to sail from Xiamen to Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy and other countries on the 24th to start its maiden voyage to Europe. According to statistics, this marks the largest single shipment of automotive exports from Xiamen Port.
The development of China's new energy automobile industry continues to accelerate, which requires higher transportation capacity. The Ro-Ro ship has a total length of 199.9 meters, a width of 38 meters, 7,600 vehicle slots, and a displacement of over 40,000 tons. It innovatively uses LNG dual-fuel clean power, boasting technological advantages such as environmental friendliness and intelligent efficiency. This maiden voyage starts from Shanghai Port and passes through Lianyungang Port. It loaded over 3,700 vehicles in Xiamen, including more than 1,700 new energy vehicles, which will carry nearly 5,000 vehicles to Europe. With the accelerated iteration of "clean power" and the arrival of "big ship era", the pace of shipping China's new energy vehicles abroad has further sped up.
In order to escort the export of new energy vehicles, Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration took the initiative to understand the information of the ship and goods, and cooperated with port departments to guarantee customs clearance services, so as to realize "zero waiting time and zero delay" for ships at the port.
Under the influence of cold wave and strong wind in the past two days, the maritime department started the strong wind level IV response, closely tracked the changes of weather and sea conditions, provided shipping aid information in time, dispatched sea patrol boats to carry out alert cruise, and implemented remote monitoring of ships by means of information technology. At the same time, it strengthened on-site safety supervision and inspection before boarding vehicles, and checked the navigation and fire fighting equipment, vehicles binding and fastening, battery power failure protection, etc., so as to reduce navigation safety risks.
In recent years, Xiamen Port has become an important shipping hub for the export of new energy products by virtue of its good business environment. As one of China's "new three items" in foreign trade exports, Xiamen Port exported 85,000 new energy vehicles in 2023, a tenfold increase compared to the previous year. Since the beginning of 2024, many batches of new energy vehicles have been exported by sea in Xiamen Port. Before the "SAIC ANJI SINCERITY" berthed, the "MORNING MIDAS" ro-ro ship left the berth on the evening of 22nd.
