The World Maritime Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Forum was held in Foochow Arsenal on October 13th. More than 200 experts and scholars from China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and other countries jointly discussed the interconnection of world marine civilization.

From the perspective of the combination of the development history of marine equipment and the development track of marine civilization, the forum discussed typical cases of the exchange and mutual learning of the world marine civilization, so as to boost the brand construction of “Marine Fuzhou”

In the keynote speech delivered in the morning, Yuduan Huang, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of New Era University College in Malaysia, took the state of Penang and Kuala Terengganu in Malaysia as examples to introduce how the Fujian businessmen in Southeast Asia at that time organically connected the two seaports and shopping malls in the neighboring countries to create a trading area; Zhengwei Lai, Professor of the School of Social History of Fujian Normal University, introduced the exchange of shipbuilding and navigation technology between the coastal areas of Fujian and Ryukyu islands during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, pointing out that the advanced shipbuilding and navigation technology of Fujian was introduced to Ryukyu islands through Ryukyu mission, Fujian people of the thirty-six surnames and their descendants, and the envoys of China, which promoted the development of overseas transportation and intermediary trade of Ryukyu, and the improvement of shipbuilding technology in Fujian.

On the afternoon of the same day, nearly 50 delegates, who were divided into 4 groups, discussed and shared the research achievements and thoughts of marine civilization from the perspective of multiple disciplines in the forum. (Reporter Liqing Ma, Fuzhou Evening News)
