Mr. Ashok Kumar Byanju Shrestha, President of the UCLG ASPAC, President of Municipal Association of Nepal, and Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, expressed thanks to 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee for organizing this meeting. He recognized the Committee's relentless efforts in promoting inter-city and international cooperation and communication and expressed his hope that the meeting could contribute to realizing the shared vision of the members of the UCLG ASPAC.
Mr. Ashok, Mr. Ashok Kumar Byanju Shrestha, President of the UCLG ASPAC, President of Municipal Association of Nepal, and Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, delivered the speech.
Mr. Du Weiguang, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and Deputy Secretary General of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee, briefed on the latest progress and the future working plan of the Committee on behalf of the Secretariat, and invited representatives to attend the activities held by the Committee, including the Forum on “Marine Economy and ‘Dual Carbon’ Strategy”, the Workshop on “Juncao Technology”, the Second Silk Road International Youth Photography and Short Video Competition and etc.
Mr. Du Weiguang, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and Deputy Secretary General of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee, briefed on the latest progress and the future working plan of the Committee.
Mr. Gao Shang, Deputy Director of Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Urban-Rural Development, Director of Fuzhou Urban Hydrographic Net Joint Drainage and Dispatch Center, introduced the comprehensive management of Fuzhou's water system from three aspects, including management of water environment (9 strategies to manage the inland waters and 5 strategies to improve the living environment along the waters), innovative system to ensure water safety (three innovative systems for urban drainage and flood control), and mechanism to ensure efficient long-term management (market-based operation, reinforced monitoring, and system of double river chiefs). Mr. Lin Changsheng, Deputy Director of Fuzhou Municipal Commission of Urban Management, introduced the practice and experience of Fuzhou’s urban household waste sorting and disposal from four aspects, including historical development, system evolvement, standard practice (“4 sames at 3 ends” waste sorting process), and facility construction (Hongmiaoling Circular Economy Ecological Industrial Park).

During the free discussion session, Mrs. Noraini Roslan, Mayor of Klang Municipal Council, Malaysia, expressed her hope to deepen maritime cooperation and promote maritime development through the platform of the Committee. Mr. Krishna, Executive Secretary General of ADCCN, expressed thanks to 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee for organizing this meeting. He introduced the situation of Nepal and expressed his hope to promote the cooperation and communication between members through the Committee. Representatives from Changchun, Qingdao, and Jinan spoke highly of the introduction of representatives from Fuzhou, and expressed their willingness to participate in the future activities of the Committee.
At last, Dr. Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC, made the closing speech. She expressed her hope that the Committee members would learn from Fuzhou's practices of building a city with resilience and sustainability, and joint hands to construct a more livable, sustainable, and fair city for a better future of all people.
